Zynga was founded by Mark Pincus, Michael Luxton, Eric Schiermeyer, Justin Waldron, Andrew Trader, and Steve Schoettler. They were founded in 2008 by Steve Schoettler, who was a member of the board of directors of Kleiner Perkins & Co. They founded the firm in 2008 from Kleiner Perkins & Co. They received $29 million in start-up capital from the Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers firms in 2008 and appointed Bing Gordon, former creative director of Arts & Crafts, to their board of directors. According to its website, in December 2009 it had 60 million users online every day.
